Democracy Doesn’t Work Without You — Vote Today

This morning, I cast my vote at the local polling station — and I hope you’ll do the same before polls close this evening.

In 2021, nearly 75% of voters across Kingswood and wider Corby didn’t vote. That’s thousands of people left unheard. Today is your chance to change that. Every vote matters.

It’s also a chance to think beyond the noise. This election isn’t about London. It’s not about sending a national message or validating a party brand. It’s about North Northamptonshire. About Corby. About Kingswood.

As I’ve said throughout this campaign, democracy starts and ends with honesty. And it’s telling that very few of the party candidates have truly committed to that in this race. Instead, we’ve had recycled pledges, contradictory claims, and national slogans packaged up as local plans.

I’ve spent the past month walking these streets, speaking to residents, listening, and showing up — in person, online, and in action.

Ironically, this morning was also the first time I’ve seen some party candidates in the ward all month — standing outside polling stations, ready to greet voters. It’s telling. We need councillors who show up before the cameras and clipboards arrive — not just on election day.

If you’re still undecided, I encourage you to read my final blog from yesterday: What We’re Told. What’s True. And Why Kingswood Deserves Better.

And on Monday, my article in the Northants Telegraph reminded readers that the main parties aren’t putting our communities first — they’re focused on national power and national attention. That must change.

So today, we get to decide. Not what London wants. But what Corby needs.

Let’s vote for accountability. Let’s vote for visibility. Let’s vote for competence.

Let’s vote for better.
